My book “Ancient Gods and Their Mysteries: Will They Return in 2012 AD?” paid little attention to the eastern religions because they are so alien to most westerners.  However, recent revelations from UFO abductees which warn of a coming mass destruction remind me of the Hindu gods and especially Shiva the Destroyer.  A brief introduction may help.

At the beginning of the creation of the world, Vishnu became threefold; Creator, Preserver and Destroyer.  The god Brahma was created by Vishnu and is worshipped as god the Creator. 

Vishnu also created Shiva the Destroyer.  Vishnu’s main role is as the Preserver, although he is also known as all three persons: Creator, Preserver and Destroyer (A Trinity).  These three important roles are key to much of the Hindu gods, and describe their main activities on earth.  The gods act thru long periods of time called ages.  We currently live in the fourth and last age, the decadent and material Kali Age which started on 3100 BC, about the same time as the Mayan fifth and last age.  The ancient Vedic scriptures give us a sign for the pending end of the last age.

A reincarnation of the god Vishnu will be born as a human called Kalki the Fulfiller, who will come riding on a white horse and holding a sword blazing like a comet.  He will punish the evil-doers and comfort the virtuous.  Then he will destroy the world.  Later, from the ruins of the earth, a new mankind will arise (Ref. ’The Myths and Gods of India”).

This ancient sanskrit theology agrees with my essay on “The Berringer Theory“.  A flaming comet could destroy most humans in 2012.  A righteous remnant will survive with the help of the gods.  Supernatural beings which the Hindu’s call Nagas will help.  They are shape changers, usually seen as human or half human and half serpent.  Well illustrated at Ankor Wat, the cobra -kings should return to earth soon.  The first and greatest of the Nagas is Sesha the remainder, usually pictured as a large seven-headed serpent. 

Vishnu and Sesha preserve life from age to age.

When creation is withdrawn it cannot entirely cease to be, there must remain in a subtle form (DNA?), the germ of all that has been and will be so that the world will rise again.  It is this remainder which is embodied in the serpent floating on the limitless ocean (of space) and forming the couch on which the hibernating Vishnu sleeps (between creations).  Ibid.

The Hindu recurring themes of regeneration by preservation following destruction remind me of evolution.  Most creation of new species on earth has occurred following mass extinctions.  Thank you Vishnu and Sesha.  Skeptics should research the mass extinction of mammoths and most large mammals due to a comet which hit the Hudson Bay about 11,000 BC, the end of the second Mayan Age of Man.

Thirty years ago I had the revelation that the gods intervened in human evolution periodically, perhaps every 500 years in recent millennia. Accordingly, I was not surprised to learn that the Mayans and Aztecs had a well developed cosmology called the Long Count Calendar based on the baktun, a 394 year cycle ruled by one of their major gods. The fifth age of man, or fifth sun started in 3114 BC and will end on the winter solstice of 2012AD. Scholars have slightly different dates and I will use John Major Jenkin's dates for this essay. The Mayans agreed with our calculations that there are thirteen baktuns in our current age. The Mayans thought Cortez was their god Quetzalcoatl, a wise bearded white man from the east, and presented him with their most sacred symbol, a large solid gold calendar based on the Mayan Long Count. The Aztec gods must be very forgiving, since they did not strike dead Cortez and the conquistadors when they melted down the most sacred and most priceless object ever made in America. Fortunately for all of us, a large solid stone calendar survived in Mexico. Each bactun is ruled by a new god. We don't know all the names of the Mayan gods, so I will use the Aztec names.

The fifth age of man comprises 13 bactuns (0 thru 12) and ends in 2012 AD. Many Americans for over 1500 years have believed that there are only five ages of man. My extrapolation to a fourteenth bactun above is optimistic, for I know from my studies of evolution that the gods have been creating man for hundreds of bactuns. That is the truth. Note that many gods were very active around 3114 BC, especially in Sumer and Egypt, so it is reasonable to expect that many gods will be active by the end of 2012 AD. I predict that Quetzalcoatl and other gods will return in bactun 13.

Zacheria Sitchin is a bold student of ancient religions and an astute reader of the many ancient signs of the heaven and earth gods. He thinks that Quetzalcoatl is the same god as Ningishzidda from Sumer, Thoth/Djehuti from Egypt, Hermes from Greece, and Mercury from Rome. Yahweh created confusion when he scrambled all of the earth's languages. I would like to remind the reader that the Mayan culture survived for over 1500 years going back to the time of the Greek's and Roman's and had a mathematical system and calendar much superior to that of the Egyptians, Greek's or Roman's, but most of their history has been systematically destroyed by the more powerful conquistadors and their preists.

The Mayans believed that the gods of the day baktuns were much more benevolent than the gods of the night bactuns. I am not a Mayan scholar, but it was easy to find two scholars who have empirically verified that the thirteen bactuns correlate with human civilization. Note in the above table that alternate baktuns were ruled by benevolent day gods then malevolent night gods. They were not all good or evil, and the commonly used Mayan terms of dark and light are more meaningful to me. They were neither omnipotent nor omnipresent, and sacrifices of the king's blood may have evolved to mass human sacrifices under a dark god.

Jose Arguelles and Carl Calleman both agreed that human civilization follows light and dark baktun cycles. They found that the discrimination between light and dark cycles was clearer in areas like religion, language, writing, calendars, and communication. My book, "Ancient Gods and Their Mysteries, Will They Return In 2012" looked for signs of the gods, and the following paragraphs summarize my review.

I note that the 13 cycle fiifth sun starts and ends with a light cycle. Extrapolating backwards, we can predict that the previous 394 years before 3114 BC were benevolent. Archaeological data confirm that civilization was growing rapidly in the fertile crescent. Gods were benevolent, especially the mother goddess. Women took care of the house, children and gardens, all of which were increasing in size. The domestication of plants and animals was spreading from the mountains to the fertile river valleys, and hunter-gatheres were evolving into farmers. Before 3114 BC, there is much evidence of pottery, plows and farming but little evidence of warfare. The first writing script dates to this period. Civilization in Sumer and Egypt grew so fast around 3114 BC that scholars disagree with exact dates for the first metal plow, the first pottery wheel, the first brick kiln and the first bronze, but many signs point to about 3114 BC.. With Sitchin, I believe that the gods were active in Sumer, Egypt, Bolivia, Peru and England around 3114 BC. In Sumer we find the first cuneiform writing, the first hieroglyphic writing, the first city states, the first kings, the first priests, the first scribes, the first craftsman, the first temples, the first pyramids, the first extensive usage of irrigation, and the first wheeled carts. I have a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and I think the Sumerian invention of bronze is a clear sign of the gods. Bronze is a high temperature alloy of copper and tin or arsenic, and it would take me the rest of my life to find the ores, refine the ores, design and build a kiln and make a bronze plow. The Sumerians needed help. Note that native Americans didn't learn how to make bronze until after 1500 AD. The Americans had vast amounts of tin ore and copper ore, but there was none in Sumer. Sumer had lots of oil, but how did they develop a sophisticated plan to become the first city state in history to pioneer smelting in a fertile river valley now called Iraq? Many archaeologists wonder about the mysterious new civilizations that appeared fully grown about this time in Sumer and in Egypt, The Sumeians and Egyptians left us more than a clue, they both said that the gods brought them civilization, writing and kingship.

Pre-Columbian bronze clamps have been found in the Andes, in cyclopean stone work. My book describes with photos these mysterious bronze clamps which have only appeared at sacred sites. Sitchin thinks that the gods made these clamps, and helped supply tin to the Sumerians. The Aztecs, Incas, Mayas, Olmecs, etc. did not have iron or bronze, only copper. The Aztecs called the lord of bactun 0 the god of fire and time, and they had little written knowledge of prehistoric history in America.. They had no knowledge of history in Egypt and Sumer. Even Sumer and Egypt were very separate cultures before bactun 1. How did the Maya know that the first Egyptian Pharoah Menes united upper and lower Egypt on 3114 BC, thus starting the Egyptian calendar and the Fifth Sun? How did they know that it would be a key baktun of light, using oil to fire the first kilns and the exact start of the bronze age? The gods only know.

In general, baktuns 1 thru 4 follow the Mayan light and dark cycles, especially in Egypt and Sumer, By 2325 BC, the end of dark baktun 1, most major civilizations mysteriously collapsed. At some time around 2300 BC, give or take a century or two, a large number of the major civilizations of the world collapsed, simultaneously it seems. The Akkadian Empire in Mesopotamia, the Old Kingdom in Egypt, the Early Bronze Age civilization in Israel, Anatolia and Greece, as well as the Induss Valley civilization in India, the Hilmand Civilization in Afghanistan and the Hongshan Culture in China-the first urban civilizations in the world-all fell into ruin at more of less the same time. Why? Benny Peiser, archaeologist BRITISH ARCHAEOLOGY, December 1997 Peiser and others are looking for extraterrestrial influences, like asteroids. Few scientists blame Tlaltecuhtli, the Aztec god of earth. Earthquakes and volcanoes may indeed be a contributing factor. In baktun 4, around 1500 BC, Troy and the Hittite civilization were thriving in Anatolia/Turkey with the invention of iron. The Mycaenian civilization in Greece and the New Kingdom in Egypt were growing. Both the Phoenicians and the Semites were spreading around the eastern Mediterranean and here we find the first alphabet. Starting in 1140 BC, baktun 5 under the Aztec god of death was dark indeed. The major Olmec city at San Lorenzo was deserted at this time, followed by a rebirth at LaVenta. The Phoenicians and other sea people weakened many civilizations around the Meditteranean, including the formerly powerful Mycenaean and Hittite civilizations, but they were not likely to destroy civilizations. Almost all the coastal cities for miles inland were destroyed. Cities were mysteriously burned with enough heat to melt city walls. Humans cannot melt stones and brick with normal open fires? Also, precious metals were left behind, a strange behavior of looting pirates..

Around 1200 BC, many of the civilizations of the same regions (as in 2300 BC) again collapsed at about the same time. This time, disaster overtook the Myceneans of Greece, the Hittites of Anatolia, The Egyptian New Kingdom, Late Brronze Age Israel, and the Shang Dynasty of China. Ibid. Why do I think that Mayan seers knew more about the demise of civilization around 1000 BC than western historians? Unknown sea peoples from unknown places did not demolish major civilizations in bactun 5 without the help of a dark god. Bactun 6 under Cinteotl, the Aztec god of maize and sustenance started about 748 BC, the time when the Roman god Romulus founded Rome. This is the time of Hesiod, Homer and the Greek gods. It was also the age of Plato, Aristotle, Buddha, Confucius and the Hebrew prophets. God centered cultures were thriving in America, including the Chavin, Olmec, Zapotec and Mayan civilizations. Bactun 8 under Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec god of light, started about 41 AD. Quetalcoatl is also known as Kukulcan or the Feathered Serpent. The most popular of all the many native American gods, he brought writing, calendars and civilization to America. Sitchin thinks he is the same god as Thoth, who brought writing and the calendar to the Egyptians. It was Thoth/Hermes who taught "as above, so below" and Quetzalcoatl who taught the Zapotecs and Maya writing and the "long count calendar". Civilization in America was thriving, especially in Central America with the very impressive city of Teotihuacan. Roman peace endured during bactun 6, during which Greek, Roman and Egyptian wisdom thrived, especially in Alexandria. Jesus appeared as a god to Saint Paul and the Christian Church was born and the New Testament written. The Talmud and Kama-Sutra were also written during bactun 8, a bactun of sustenance. Bacun 9 from 435 to 830 AD was a dark age indeed, with prophets like Genghis Khan and Mohammed. The Roman Empire came to an end at the hands of barbarians from the north and the Muslim Empire grew at the expense of the Christian Empire. In the New World, the classic Mayan Age came to as abrupt end with the desertion of Copan and Palenque. Teotihacan also collapsed.

Baktun 10 under the Aztec goddess of birth, Yohudlicitl, who guided the Mayans to Chichen Itza after 830 AD. There they built the soon to become famous Kukulcan Pyramid Temple. Here at both the spring and autumn equinox, the Feathered Serpent's shadow climbs step by step to the top of the pyramid. The Aztec and Toltec numbers grew in Mexico as the Mayans moved northward. The Khmer culture in Cambodia thrived with both Hindu and Buddhist pyramid temples. We note that the very popular Hindu god, Siva had both creative and destructive sides, and many impressive Siva statues and temples were built in Southeast Asia during baktun 10.

Bactun 11 under the Aztec god before dawn started about 1224 AD, another dark age. Here we find the Black Death in Europe, the inquisitions, and the demise of most natives on the Pacific Islands and America. This time period is known as the Dark Ages in Europe and it was no better in Asia with debilitating floods and wars. Bactun 12 starting in 1618 AD under the Aztec god Ometeotl, the dual creator god, is our own creative age. This is the age of science and technology and the age of exploration and transportation. It includes Sir Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, automobiles, airplanes, computers and cell phones. Mayan scholar Carl Calleman sees the exponential increase in communication in our age as a positive sign. We are almost capable of reading the many signs left by the gods, even if we have trouble with their names. Remember, it was the gods who confused our languages long ago. Some like SETI look to the stars for messages from the gods. I think the gods have left many signs for us to read. The Mayan Long Count is one of those signs. Quetzalcoatl climbing the Kukulcan Pyramid is another sign. My book discusses many other signs, including the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx and mysterious megaliths and obelisks around the world. Perhaps the window formed by the 2012 spring and fall equinoxes are a gateway to heaven. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Over four billion years ago, Extraterrestrials or ETs created our amazing Earth and our very unique Moon.  Analysis of moon rocks indicates that it was made from the earth’s crust.  Tectonic Plates and Hot Spots were created to build mountains and control the temperature of the Earth.  Oceans were made and the DNA and RNA seeds of life were brought to Earth.  Inclined poles and electromagnetic fields were also created.  We should not underestimate the power or the patience of the ETs.  Historically called gods, they have left many natural footprints on Earth and do not appear to be omnipotent.  They are certainly not omnipresent, as billions of followers wait millennia for their return.  We call them gods, but they are not omnipotent.  They are the creators of life on Earth and they shall return on 2012!

My theory of Intelligent Design or Guided Evolution is based on much evidence that the ETs have periodically intervened in Darwinian Evolution, mostly using mass extinctions and hybrids.  Most new species have been created following mass extinctions.  Most mammals were created following the extinction of the dinosaurs.  Over the last four million years, big brain humans have evolved from small brain simians with the help of the ETs.  Although the Homo erectus and Neanderthal species were well equipped to survive, the ETs opted to reverse the Darwinian trend toward diversity, and now we only have one species of humans, Homo sapiens.  All humans can now interbreed with viable offspring.

Like the world’s toughest puzzle, I needed many clues to solve the two major problems of life. Where did we come from and where are we going?  The five Mayan Ages of Man as revealed over 2000 years ago are the key.  The First Mayan Age of Man started on 20,238 BC with Cro-Magnon Man and big game hunters thriving in Europe and Asia.  The more robust and well acclimated Neanderthal humans had mysteriously disappeared, surely with help from the gods.  The out of Africa expansion of human hunters and gatherers during the First and Second Mayan Age of Man was aided by the success of big game hunters and the absence of Neanderthal competition. Large predators were man’s main competitors for food and shelter during these long ages.

The Mayan Third Age of Man started on 11,131 BC.  In evolutionary time this was very recent, but humans were still hunter-gatherers.  Clovis Man had crossed into North America from Siberia and was thriving around New Mexico.  Like Europe and Asia, mammoths and mastodons were plentiful as was other big game.  Large predators like Saber-tooth Tigers, huge bears, dire wolves and giant sloths provided competition and a deadly threat to humans. They had survived many ice ages until they were destroyed by the extraterrestrial forces early in the Third Age of Man.  At this time, the North Pole was located in the Hudson Bay, where a large asteroid hit spreading ice and debris around the Northern Hemisphere.  Most large mammals including humans were destroyed, not to return for centuries.  Mammoths, mastodons, Saber-tooth Tigers, huge bears, and most large mammals became extinct in North America, Europe and Asia.  Hunter-gatherers continued to survive in Africa, Australia and South America. 

The ETs were preparing for the next Age of Man to start in the Fertile Crescent and the Nile Valley without the help of big game.  The Mayan Fourth Age of Man started on 7131 BC with massive flooding in North America, Europe and Asia.  Sea levels were rising rapidly and ancient ice dams and straights like Gibraltar and the Dardanelles were admitting the seas.  In the Zagros Mountains near the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, ETs were domesticating plants and animals for their next crowning achievements, the civilization of man. 

The Fifth Age of Man started on 3114 BC with kingship, bronze, the wheel, and writing bestowed on the Sumerians.  In, Egypt, upper and lower kingdoms were united under the first pharaoh, Menes.  Writing and pyramids were soon to follow.  The earliest writings all agree that civilization was a gift of beings from the stars, now translated as gods. There are many signs of ETs in Egypt, including pyramids, coffins and vases made from hard rocks like granite.  We cannot duplicate these enigmatic signs using Stone Age tools, and even the Egyptologists admit the absence of metal tools in Egypt when the major pyramids were built.

The Mayan Calendar predicts that the Fifth and final Age of Man will end in 2012 AD.  The Toltecs and Mayans believed that high gods periodically come from the heavens in the region where the ecliptic crosses the Milky Way.  Located in the Sagittarius Constellation, we now know that a massive black hole located there defines the center of our galaxy.  This black hole is the beginning and the end of all stars in our galaxy, including our sun.  On December 21 in 2012AD, our sun lines up with this black hole which the Mayans believed to be a portal to the gods, especially their sun god.  I am reminded of Jason’s difficulty in getting thru the clashing cliffs, which do not stay open long.  It is hard to get to Heaven.

We are currently being visited by UFO’s and ETs but not by gods. The ancient Heaven and Earth gods like Yahweh, Enki, Thoth and Quetzalcoatl were powerful and benevolent.  They may return to help righteous remnants survive the end of the Five Mayan Ages of Man.

The Mayan 2012 galactic alignment is very prophetic and rare indeed.  Related to precession, the last time the sun aligned with the galactic center was about 11,000 BC, the time of the last major extinction of large mammals on Earth, notably in America, Europe and Asia.  He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
